The Monster Raving Loony Party has announced it will be contesting the Stoke-on-Trent Central by-election.
A petition was delivered to the full meeting of Stoke-on-Trent City Council on Thursday by a group of mums who are desperately trying to get the leading coalition to change their minds over proposed changes to their beloved Children’s Centres.
In her address to the assembled councillors the group’s spokesperson Nicola Howarth, stressed the impact that these proposals would have on our city’s children, some of which
come from our most vulnerable families.
Following his victorious performance in the Stoke-on-Trent Central CLP selection meeting, Gareth Snell has issued the following statement:

I’m delighted to have been chosen by local Labour members here in Stoke-on-Trent Central to be the voice of local people. I’m proud to come from the Potteries and even prouder to be standing to represent our home in Parliament.
Labour has always stood up for local people here in Stoke-on-Trent, whether it’s building our first new hospital in 100 years or defending our vital children’s centres.
The Tories haven’t done anything for our city, and now they’re trying to sell off £1.2 billion of cancer and end of life care in North Staffordshire. And UKIP’s plans for our NHS are clear – sell it all off to the highest bidder.
Only Labour will do what is needed to get a fair deal for the people of Stoke-on-Trent Central.
After a two hour grilling of the three final candidates, I can confirm that the Labour Party PPC to contest the upcoming by-election for Stoke-on-Trent Central is Newcastle Borough Councillor Gareth Snell.
Each candidate gave a 10 address followed by 20 minutes of questions from CLP members.
I can confirm that Jack Brereton the city 
councillor for the Milton Baddeley and Norton ward has tonight been selected to be the Conservative Prospective Parliamentary Candidate in the upcoming by-election in Stoke-on-Trent Central.
Jack is also Deputy Leader of the Stoke-on-Trent Conservative Group and is also the current cabinet member for Regeneration, Transport & Heritage.
Jack was also the youngest ever Stoke-on-Trent City Councillor when he was elected back in 2011. He is considered to be one of the rising stars of the Conservative Party.
A & E doctor Stephen Hitchen has pulled out of the race to become the Labour Party candidate to succeed Tristram Hunt in the upcoming by-election in Stoke-on-Trent Central.
There were rumours circulating last night over this issue.

Tristram Hunt has today triggered the process needed to resign as the member of parliament for Stoke-on-Trent Central.
The Labour Party have announced that the by-election will take place on the 23rd February 2017. The by-election for the Copeland constituency, which was triggered by the resignation of Jamie Reed MP, will take place on the same day.
Let me start by saying, I am applying to be the Labour Party candidate in the upcoming by-election for the constituency of Stoke-on-Trent Central. I think I’m ideally placed to takeover from Tristram Hunt.
Don’t get me wrong, I have absolutely no right to stand whatsoever, I’m not a Labour Party member – but I just hate missing out on things!
Seriously though, did you know there are about 100+ expected applicants from across the party membership?
